Under the authority of the Professional Governance Act, FPBC is responsible for regulating and registering the people practising professional forestry in BC. FPBC sets the standards and criteria for admission to the profession and continuing practice. FPBC ensures only those with requisite education, experience, knowledge, and competence practise professional forestry and it holds registrants to account for following professional standards via a public complaint and discipline process.

The SIP vision is that there is an accelerated growth of innovative silviculture by improving knowledge of these systems in British Columbia using research and extension. The SIP integrates both extension and knowledge creation to create impactful resources for forest practitioners. Using collaborative partnerships with communities and practitioners, we support diverse perspectives to fill critical knowledge gaps, enhance access to knowledge, and facilitate knowledge exchange.

The Forest Genetics Council of BC coordinates the production and use of tree seed so BC's future forests remain healthy, resilient and productive. FGC also owns Select Seed Company Ltd. , which produces lodgepole pine, spruce and Douglas-fir seed for BC's interior and provides program management services to Council.

The Western Forestry Contractors' Association represents independent businesses involved in forest management, ecosystem restoration and reforestation, wildfire management, pre and post-harvest planning and implementation services. The WFCA is based in British Columbia, Canada, and mission is to promote and support sustainable forestry practices, ensure a safe and healthy work environment, provide advocacy and representation to members, and represent the sector to the public. The WFCA believes in partnering with all governments, industry licensees, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to achieve these goals. The non-profit organization is primarily funded through membership fees and is governed by a volunteer board. Through our funding, the WFCA supports initiatives that benefit the forestry sector and our forests. These include the Safe Forestry Program and the Silviculture Labour Force Strategy, annual conferences, and subject matter expert contributions to the development of our governments' forest policies. Membership with the WFCA is voluntary.

FESBC, in partnership with the Province of British Columbia, is a catalyst that unifies people around helping communities with sustainability, climate action, increasing First Nations participation in the forest economy, jobs for workers, abundant wildlife and healthy forests. The Forest Enhancement Society of BC continues to play a key role in the forests of B. C. , working with our partners to create healthier, more productive forests for the future. Through funding and direction from the government of BC, FESBC is able to support innovative projects throughout the province, delivered by Indigenous groups, communities, and contractors; projects which ensure value is generated from residual forest waste while reducing the risk from wildfires, improving wildlife habitat, and generating economic activity. The purposes of the Forest Enhancement Society of BC are: 1. To advance environmental and resource stewardship of British Columbia's forests by: Preventing and mitigating the impact of wildfires; Improving damaged or low value forests; Improving habitat for wildlife; Supporting the use of fibre from damaged and low value forests; and Treating forests to improve the management of greenhouse gases. 2. To advocate for the environmental and resource stewardship of British Columbia's forests 3. To do all such other things as are incidental and ancillary to the attainment of the foregoing purposes and the exercise of the powers of the Society.

The First Nation Forestry Council is committed to being a central resource where First Nations individuals, businesses, and governments can access the information, tools, resources, opportunities, and support they need to achieve their goals within the forest sector. The FNFC services are organized into three core areas: Workforce, Business and Forest Governance. These areas are then supported by Engagement Communications, a fourth service area which serves to amplify and enhance our efforts in each core area. First Nations Forestry Council is governed by a Board of Directors composed of representatives from the First Nations Summit, the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, and the BC Assembly of First Nations and a Forestry Tenure Member.

The Fire Chiefs' Association of British Columbia is a non-profit organization that serves as an essential source of information, education, and community for its members. It proactively engages with the government and standards organizations on issues relating to fire services, resulting in effective and supported fire departments across the province. The FCABC was formed in 1931 and is recognized today by the government and public as a trusted representative of BC's fire service. As a representative of over 300 fire departments across British Columbia, the Association works to improve safety and fire service delivery through advocacy, member support and services, and strategic partnerships at various levels.

The Truck Loggers Association is an influential voice in the forest industry on behalf of its 400 member companies across BC. Celebrating 82 years of advocacy, the TLA was formed to give independent loggers a collective voice in the changes taking place in society and the forest industry, as well as to share information about newly developing logging machines, methods, and technology. The TLA now represents independent timber harvesting contractors, phase contractors, market loggers, independent sawmills, industry suppliers and forest resource dependent communities.

The BCWF is a non-profit with a mission is to protect and enhance the environment for present and future generations, driven by core values of stewardship, transparency, and science-based solutions.

Woodlots BC is the operating name of the Woodlot Product Development Council, which represents woodlot licensees in BC. The Woodlot Product Development Council was established in 1997 following a vote by woodlot licensees in support of forming the Council. All registered holders of a woodlot licence are members of the Woodlot Product Development Council. The Woodlots BC mission is connecting woodlot licensees and giving voice to their tenure.

As an independent, non-profit organization, we collaborate with our diverse network to help address local and global sustainability challenges. SFI works with the forest sector, brand owners, conservation groups, resource professionals, landowners, educators, local communities, Indigenous Peoples, governments, and universities.

FSC Canada is a non-profit membership organization that certifies over 200 million hectares of forest worldwide. FSC's responsible forestry standard, linked to a strict chain of custody certification, is a proven nature-based solution to tackle today's climate and biodiversity challenges. That is why we are trusted by environmental groups, NGOs, consumers, and businesses alike.

The Free to Grow in Forestry initiative aims to achieve gender equality and meaningful inclusion of equity-deserving groups at all levels from technical to executive level positions in the forest sector. The initiative is an unprecedented collaboration that was launched in 2018 as a result of the Gender Equity in Canada's Forest Sector National Action Plan Initiative, spearheaded by the Canadian Institute of Forestry and the Centre for Social Intelligence, with strategic guidance from the National Steering Committee of forest sector leaders. They provide tools to help support positive workplace culture, including learning modules.

The Canadian Institute of Forestry Institut forestier du Canada is a not-for-profit, member-based organization. Founded in 1908, the CIF-IFC is the oldest forest society in Canada, serving as the voice of forest practitioners representing foresters, forest technologists and technicians, ecologists, biologists, educators and many others with an interest in forests and forestry. The CIF mission is to provide national leadership in forestry and forest stewardship, promote competency among forest practitioners, and foster public awareness and education of forest and forestry issues.

Prescribed Fire Training Exchanges and cooperative burns provide experiential training that builds robust local capacity for fire management and offers fire practitioners a more holistic perspectivea?\"while implementing treatments that support community and landscape objectives. TREX provides a unique cooperative burning model that services the needs of a variety of entities, including federal and state agencies, private landowners and contractors, tribes, academics, and international partnersa?\"while incorporating local values and issues to build the right kinds of capacity in the right places. Most TREX events take place in the spring or fall, when conditions are mostly likely to be good for safe and effective prescribed burning.

The CNC Research Forest area was entrusted to the College of New Caledonia as a critical resource to support and enrich student education via CNC's Natural Resources and Forest Technology program. The Research Forest provides for excellent experiential student learning and research opportunities and first-hand experience in forest resource stewardship. At the same time, northern British Columbia is afforded ready access to a venue for forest-based research, and an expert team of researchers to tackle your applied research and innovation challenges.

The International Association of Wildland Fire mission is to facilitate communication and provide leadership for the wildland fire community. The IAWF was formed to promote a better understanding of wildland fire, and built on the belief that an understanding of this dynamic natural force is vital for natural resource management, for firefighter safety, and for harmonious interaction between people and their environment. The Association is dedicated to communicating with the entire wildland fire community and providing a global linkage for people with a shared interest in wildland fire and comprehensive fire management.

This learning resource outlines how forest practices are assessed to ensure they maintain or enhance the supply of economically valuable commercial timber. Using the Stand Development Protocol, the program evaluates previously harvested areas for tree species diversity, forest productivity, and health. It compares stands harvested before and after December 2005 to determine the effectiveness of forest regeneration practices. Supporting materials include detailed protocols and field cards for monitoring stand development and stump identification.
